Baking pan filled with Maple Yams and Pears

Enjoy the flavors of fall foods any time of year with canned food, either commercially canned or home canned. You can substitute home canned quarts of sweet potatoes and/or pears for the 29-ounce cans in this recipe.

MAPLE YAMS AND PEARS (Pantry Cooking II)

1 can (29 ounces) yams (sweet potatoes), drained and cut into 1/2” slices or pieces
1 can (29 ounces) pear halves, drained and cut crosswise into 1/2” slices
1/2 cup maple flavored syrup

In an 8×12-inch greased baking pan, alternate rows of yams and pears using half of each.  Top with alternating rows of the remaining yams and pears.  Yams in the top layer should be on top of pears in the bottom layer.  Pears in the top layer should be on top of yams in the bottom layer.  Pour syrup over the yams and pears.  Bake at 350o for 30 minutes.  Serves 6.
