I love my steam juicer. A steam juicer will increase your canning options and help you get more out of your produce (and other food). Here are some examples:
- If you save all the cores and peels when you prepare pineapple for canning, the steam juicer will provide just the right amount of juice for canning the pineapple.
- Juice rhubarb to make jelly then puree the pulp to mix with sweetener and applesauce for fruit leather.
- Juice crabapples for juice to make jelly then use a food strainer to make a thick sauce for fruit leather.
- Juice apples for apple juice then use a food strainer to make a thick sauce for fruit leather.
- Steam chicken pieces for a concentrated broth; chill the broth to get the chicken fat (schmaltz) for baking and cooking; can or freeze the cooked chicken after removing bones and skin; can or freeze the broth. (Great way to prepare bags of chicken quarters.)
