Caramel Apple Bars with butterscotch baking chips

This is an easy way to put fall flavors in a cake bar and use the dried apples you made this fall.  The dried apples absorb moisture from the pudding to become soft but defined in the bars.

CARAMEL APPLE BARS (Pantry Cooking with Home Preserved Foods)

1 package (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding
Milk
1 yellow cake mix
1/2 cup chopped dried apples
1 cup caramel or butterscotch baking chips

Prepare a 9×13 baking pan according to directions on the cake mix box. Mix pudding with milk according to package directions. Add the dry cake mix and mix with an electric mixer until cake mix is moistened. Stir in chopped apples. Spread in the prepared pan. Top with baking chips. Bake at 350o for 30 minutes.
