A recent price check at a local Kroger store found Kroger brand canned beans to be $1 for a 15-ounce can and Bush’s beans to be $1.69 per 15-ounce can. The 1-pound bags of dried beans were $1.29 for pinto, $1.39 for black, and $1.69 for kidney beans. That bag of beans can be turned into 3-1/2 pints of canned beans at .36, .39, and .47 per pint (plus lid cost). Home canned beans cost even less if you use beans you have in your food storage. That’s like canning at yesterday’s prices.
