Dry packing is sealing storable foods in an oxygen-free environment by using an oxygen absorbing packet. Food can be sealed in glass canning jars, PETE bottles, foil (mylar) pouches, or metal cans. Canning jars and PETE bottles can be used without any special equipment. A bag sealer is necessary for foil pouches and a can sealer is necessary for metal cans.
