I was pleasantly surprised to find that the milk, dry packed in 2003 (19 years ago), was still good. It was still a good color and it smelled fresh.
Food Storage
Vegetarian Pot Pie
This is a very satisfying and filling pie even though there is no meat in it. White beans, mushrooms, potatoes, mushroom soup, seasonings.
May is National Salsa Month
This is my favorite salsa. It’s easy to make especially when you chop and freeze the peppers and onions in season. Canned tomatoes save the tomato prep time.
Easter Dinner from Food Storage
The meal photographed here is our Easter dinner 2022. With only 2 of us eating, I decided to shop in my food storage pantry instead of cooking a big meal.
Turkey Corn Chowder
Have dinner on the table in 20 minutes with this chowder. It’s also a good one to prepare when energy supplies are limited during a disaster.
Tex-Mex Seasoning
Tex-Mex flavor in one jar. Chili powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, ground coriander, ground oregano.
Four Grain Pilaf
Serve this whole grain vegetarian casserole for an easy, satisfying meal. Gluten-free version included.
Pantry Guacamole
If you had to have your guac but couldn’t find avocados, where would you turn? Your pantry has an option for you.
Baked Quinoa and Oatmeal
Serve this for a satisfying brunch. It’s especially good with hot chocolate, hot cacao drinks, or chocolate herb tea.
Ham and Bean Soup
Tastes like it’s been simmering all afternoon but cooks in 30 minutes thanks to home canning of celery, carrots, ham, beans, and broth.
